Project European Policy Network on School Leadership - School Leadership as a mean to improve educational performance
17 January 2012 - ATEE
EPNoSL is a partner-run consortium created in 2011 in response to an increasing focus on school leaders’ professional development, including the training/preparation and selection of school leaders across Europe.
Through this online School Leadership Platform partners can collaborate privately and the network members can share information publicly to those interested in school leadership or the EPNoSL project/network, such as news, resources and public outcomes. Thematic resources are for instance: The European Scenery on School Leadership: National Case Reports, State of the Art Review and Typology of European Space for Improvement on School Leadership Policy and Practice.
The EPNoSL project also involves learning exchange events to which those interested can participate, and participation in smaller national networks of stakeholders functioning as “Communities of Practice”, as well as an international online forum.
The Network represents stakeholders on School Leadership from 21 EU Member-States and intends to expand to all EU and Associated Member-States. EPNoSL partners include academic and other experts engaged in key thematic areas, education ministries and other policymakers, as well as professional associations at national, regional and European levels. In addition, research and capacity-building actors serve a fundamental role in enabling and facilitating meaningful exchanges among partners, as well as evaluation and dissemination of findings.
The project has set itself six broad objectives which are implemented through corresponding activities designed to achieve a set of expected outcomes and affect the target groups.
The work carried out by EPNoSL is partly financed by a four-year grant (2011-2014) from the European Commission, Directorate-General for Education and Culture (Grant Agreement - EAC-2010-1388/1), within the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme.
The network is being led by FORTH Foundation and the kick-off meeting for this network took place in Crete from 6 to 8 September 2011.
Other meetings took place in Brussels in November and December 2011.
