Conferences and Seminars

The ATEE organizes three conferences per year hosted by institutions which are members of the Association.

First of all there is the Annual Conference, which takes place at the end of August. This five-days conference is a meeting place and platform for teacher educators and researchers from all over the world.
The Annual Conference combines inspiring keynotes, a wide variety of papers on research and practice of teacher education, and active working sessions organised by the Research and Development Centres (RDCs) in a friendly, informal and lively atmosphere.
The Winter Conference has been decided by the ATEE Administrative Council for the purpose of discussing and deepening the issues studied by the working groups of the Association (RDCs). Year in, year out the RDCs may widen their research by means of specific conferences open to European and Non-European experts.
The Universities in the Baltic States organize each year a Spring Conference. This two-day conference creates a lifely platform for exchanging research and practice and attracts mainly teacher educators from the Northern part of Europe.

2012 ATEE Annual Conference - Policies and Professionalism in Teacher Education

The XXXVII ATEE Annual Conference "Policies and Professionalism in Teacher Education" will be hosted by Anadolu University from 25 to 29 August 2012.

The conference will enable interaction, dialogue, knowledge exchange and creation in relation to the topics set out above through keynote addresses, parallel sessions where papers will be presented and discussed. Fifteen Research and Development Centre (RDCs) meetings will also take place during the conference where all participants have opportunities to discuss different areas of teacher education in more depth and propose and develop projects of mutual interest.

2012 ATEE Winter Conference - Professional development of teacher educators: Bringing together policy, practice and research

This conference is the first-ever to focus on teacher educators. It is the result of a collaboration between the Research and Development Community of the ATEE “Professional Development of Teacher Educators”, the Mofet Institute in Tel Aviv and the University of Coimbra.

During the conference, a variety of activities will take place to ensure both the exchange of academic research as well as reflection on policy and practice, such as expert keynote presentations, paper presentations of research, and sessions which share the experience of teacher educators. In addition, staff members from the Mofet Institute will give workshops about their work with teacher educators.

From 24th to 28th August 2011 the 36th Conference of the Association for Teacher Education in Europe will be held in Riga, Latvia. The conference will be hosted by the University of Latvia. Under the conference title Teachers’ Life-cycle from Initial Teacher Education to Experienced Professional the conference programme focuses on teachers’ pre-diploma studies and post-diploma professional development until they reach the quality of an experienced professional in the context of lifelong learning and continuous professional development.

The 2011 ATEE Spring conference was hosted by the Vilnius Pedagogical University, Vilnius, Lithuania, from 5 to 7 May, 2011

This years Spring conference is connected to the European Year of Creativity and Innovation (2009). The aim of the conference is to analyse and discuss existing educational policies as well as current practice from the point of view of stimulating openness to change, creativity and problem-solving as competences conducive to innovation.

ATEE Annual Conference 2010

26 August 2010

From 26 to 30 August 2010 the 35th Conference of the Association for Teacher Education in Europe was held in Budapest, Hungary. This conference was hosted by the Association of Hungarian Teacher Educators in co-operation with the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest and the Eszterházy Károly College of Eger.
Under the conference title ‘Responsibility, Challenge and Support in Teachers’ Life-long Professional Development’ the conference programme focused on the lifelong learning and continuous professional development of teachers and the role of pre-service and in-service teacher education.

ATEE Winter Conference 2010: Early Years, Primary Education and ICT

From 26 to 28 February 2010 the Charles University hosted the second ATEE Winter conference.

The conference focusses on the theme of Early Years and Primary Education and ICT.

This Winter conference is a joined effort of the RDC Primary and Early Years Teacher Education and the RDC ICT in Teacher Education.

34th ATEE conference 2009
